EXPOSITORY !!!!!
My MGP is about how eating healthy and sleeping good helps first graders succeed in life. For my expository writing piece I'm thinking of doing a poster that shows how not eating healthy and bad sleep affects children. I will be putting four different pictures of students in a classroom. Two will be ready to learn, working, and really positive about school. The other two are going to display students that didn't get enough sleep or food in their system. They are going to show how tired, lazy and how negative a student can be when they lack healthy eating and sleeping. Writing a small sentence under the picture will help the students understand what the picture is trying to say. I am still not sure of what to do on my persuasive but I think about doing a game where the students will be catagorizing different kinds of foods. Healthy and non-healty. Also a kind of book where they keep track of the time they go to sleep, so it can become something usual for them. I am trying to go with the emotion method to persuade the students. (first graders)

What is a Narrative???
A narrative is a type of writing that has a beggining, middle and an end. It is the type of writing, this writing contains many paragraphs. A paragraph consists of four to six sentences. The first sentence will contain the topic. The second sentence is a grabber to keep the reader interested. The third through fifth sentence contains all the details which support the topic at all times. The sixth sentence will be the conclusion/summary which also relates back to the topic, it's a re-instatement. This writing will also consist of a setting which is the meaning, time and place. It also has a Plot which relates back to the end. Characters are also involved in this type of writing, which are very important in a story. Narrative writing also needs a conflict and a resolution in order to be interesting. Last but not least it also needs to have good conventions, which are spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. A narrative writing needs to be interesting so it can carry readers along and make them want to keep on knowing what will happen next.
Some examples of narrative writing are the following:
''BOOKS"
" Spider on the floor"
" We're going on a bear hunt"
" Way down deep in the deep blue Sea"
" No matter what"
"RHYMES"
" Scarecrow, scarecrow"
" The itsy bitsy spider"

I was so I excited to go to school today, that I even dreamed about it last night. This was going to be a really particular school day, and important. I was so happy that this same night I spent all afternoon searching information. I was searching about nutrition, exercise and sleep in younger children and everyone else. As soon as I got home from school I told my parents to help me research how important this was to every single human being in the world. I sat down with both my parents and got comfortable; I was so ready to learn. There was one little problem my parents wanted us to have supper before we started researching. My parents said I would understand better if I fed my body and brain so I would focus. After eating, I was finally able to obtain some information; it’s understandable I had eaten a nutritious supper. After gathering all the information I needed, I went to bed to rest so I would be energized for tomorrow. I was so ready to share all the important information with my teacher and classmates. That morning I was so anxious to get to school. It was going to mean a lot to me to inform other students why it’s important to eat well sleep and exercise to succeed in life. I prepared very hard to do my presentation. I was ready to perform my hard work.As my parents drove me to the school, I was reading the notes out loud to my parents so they could tell me if it sounded correct. My parents told me it sounded great that even my teacher was going to be so proud of me and of the effort I had made to encourage other students to be healthy in order to succeed. My parents also said that they could see that I was real nervous, but that wasn’t true. I didn’t feel nervous at all. I was so ready. As I walked in to the classroom the teacher asked us if we had done our assignment and every one responded with a “yes”. We were all so excited to share our thoughts and feelings. The teacher asked who wanted to go first and because I was so excited I raised my hand. So yea, I went first it felt so good to be first because I wouldn’t repeat any information that others would say. Everyone was so stunned by what I was informing them. No one imagined that eating good, excising and sleeping was the answer to succeed in school, job, experiment etc. They were so motivated that they were all saying that as soon as they got home they would eat well then do homework and even go to sleep earlier. Some students said they were going to give up their Nintendo, play station, and even computer time, in order to succeed in life. The students were able to understand that they need to eat well and sleep to be able to focus and be someone successful in life. They were all able to understand that health education is very important because they should know that personal health decisions and behaviors affect health throughout their life span.
I still remember that the students were so anxious to get home and tell their parents and siblings all the information they had learned. Students thanked me for informing them with such important information. Know they know that when students, more likely younger children enter school with a bigger appetite. Good nutrition is the most important one we could give to the students for best performance. For example lunches and snacks are a great way to keep a student active, also exercise. They couldn’t believe that participating in activities in physical ed. classes was a great way to motivate them to exercise without thinking they were exercising. Recess is one of the great importances in school for a child, it's the time where we interact with others and where they get to run and play all around the playground, which is a great way to move and put their bodies in action. Nutrition and exercise are very important because the lack of these two can be the cause of childhood obesity. I was so excited that I was able to teach students how to organize their meals and choose healthy ones so they could teach their family at home. We all thought that it was so important to educate families at home and teach them to encourage their children to continue good eating methods and choices at home. Sleep is also a great impact in our life. Sleep is one of the main sources for school success.

Ahhhh.....Memories
I think that our memories last for ever. Memories are very special to everyone in a very different way. One special memory that I will never forget is the day I cried. I did not cry for something sad I cried for something so special and exciting for my self and my family. My high school graduation was a really special and emotional day for me. I graduated on May, 2005 from Southwest High School. I was so emotional because I couldn't believe that the day of finishing school was over. I had accomplished my goal of graduating, I was crying alot I couldn't hold it, but at the same time I was so happy because I was going to be the first one in my family to graduate. At the end of the ceremony I was still crying, I guess I didn't believe it until I told my mom to pinch me. My parents started laughing, but after that they ended in tears as well, they were so happy for me and my future. I wanted to set an example to my younger sisters so they could follow my steps and I was so grateful that I was able to acomplish that goal. One of my sisters graduated two years ago, and know she's attending college, that makes me feel so good. My other sister is know a senior and she is about to graduate next year in june. I feel so proud of them and proud of my self, because I was able to set the example and they followed it.

Today was a really fun activity day. We had to do an " All about Me" person of our self. We had to choose one thing that we loved the most, and give five reasons why we loved that particular thing. I love shopping it is one of my biggest hobbies. I love to go shopping it allows me to forget about everything. It makes me focus on clothes, accesories and shoes which I love. I love to go shopping because I get to spend time with my friends and sisters. I love trying on everything I pick out. I think it's fun when I try on stuff and I ask friends how it looks and they say "fine, just hurry up, you take so long".
" Shopping is my hobby"
I go shopping to have fun,
shopping makes young peole bond,
walking, talking, giggling people,
noisy, happy, rushed, sober people,
anxious, excited, quiet people,
people's people
walking by so many doors,
makes me walk into all the stores.
Shopping is my hobby,
but at the end I find my self at the lobby.

!!!!!!WRITTING IS A PROCESS!!!!!!
Writing is really important, but it is not just as simple as it sounds. Writing contains many characteristics which some people may not know. Writing is a PROCESS. This PROCESS contains five steps to end up with a great paper or any writing. The steps are the following:
1. PRE-WRITING: which organizes your thoughts, it is something as simple as semantic maps, organizers, and charts. These must contain Narrative, Persuasive, Describing, Expository information.
2. DRAFTING: is the sloppy copy (rough draft, first copy), this is when you put thoughts on paper, it is the content.
3. REVISING: this is where you change, add, or delete sentences, content and ideas.
-writers workshop
-partners( 3 )
-always have a second preferably third opinion on your paper, not only yours.
-word choice: try to transition words looking up in the thesarus.
4. EDITING: are conventions, spelling, capitalization and punctuation.
- revise on thing at a time
-show it to others
5. PUBLISH!!!!!! : this means your done........put it on walls, give it to friends, and let others see it .
!!!!!! If I won $$ 1 $$ MILLION Dollars !!!!!!
If I won ONE million dollars I would be the happiest person in the universe. If I won this big amount I would use it wisely. One of my greatest dream is to help others that are in need. I would first help children and people that need food, a roof, clothes etc. I think helping the people that need help would make me so happy. I think no one deserves to live in poberty, that is so sad and I think that if I was in their place I would like other people to help me. I would help ophanages, societies that help kids, adults and elderly in need, and schools with low income problems. I would also help my family if their in problems or need money for things they lack. Then after I did all this, with what ever is left I would take a little vacation. I have always dreamed of going to hawaii. I would love to see the beautiful sea, sand and sunset. I would like to meet people from hawaii and interact with them and their life style. While Im over there I would also like to go on a cruise to explore the entire hawaii state. These are my biggest dreams that if one day I would win ONE million dollars, there the first things that are going to come to my mind.

Blog #2 Circular Stories
Circular Stories are really fun to read. I can't think of any kid that doesn't like to read these kind of stories. A circular story is basically circular sequencing, where the plot is linked so that the ending leads back to the beggining. We can call it a "chain".
When using this method of circular sequencing, we can have more students doing their work, listening and even be interested in what is going on in the classroom. For example if you tell the student to read and he/she does not want to, we as teachers should let them know the consequences of not doing their work. Students then will understand that if their not willing to do what is asked by the teacher they may face different consequences such as, not passing, getting a bad grade, no recess, no activities, etc. When the students understand, they'll want to read and do a great job because no student wants to be left out in any activity or be held back a grade. The student then will want to do its best to be an outstanding student.
There is many ways to make reading fun......One of many is to encourage the student to read the title before starting and look through the book by flipping the pages. I think this will keep the students really interested to read the book and see what it is about. Also choose some fun activities to go with the book, ask them for feedback, ask questions about story. There is so many ways to keep students motivated to read. I think reading plays a really important role in a childs life.
